The Journey

Two decades of marketing.
One clear purpose.

I originally wanted to be a dance teacher. Life, with its usual sense of humour, had other ideas.

Creativity was always there. Movement, music, image, story, composition. I later won awards for my photography, and much later still became a No.1 Amazon bestselling author. The thread was always the same, even if the shape changed.

I have always been interested in what moves people. What catches their eye. What earns their trust. What makes them pause, feel something, believe something, choose something.

That curiosity led me first to psychology, then to business, then to marketing, and eventually to the kind of work I do now.

I did not study marketing first and then discover people. I studied people, lived a little, built businesses, worked with founders, sat inside teams, watched what helped them grow and what quietly held them back, and then deepened it all with marketing.

That order matters.

My early career spanned consumer brands, retail and technology, with roles at Sensormatic and BHS. From there I spent several years working in-house at a full-service agency, which gave me a breadth of client experience across sectors and a rigorous grounding in how marketing actually gets built and delivered. Most recently, from 2024 to 2026, I served as Head of Marketing at Sendient, supporting a technology business from start-up through scale and towards sale.

Running independent client work since 2002, in parallel with and beyond every in-house position held. That thread of direct client responsibility has never stopped.

Mimi G — psychology-informed marketing strategist

Good marketing is not noise. It is communication with purpose: understanding what people need to hear, where they need to hear it, and what they need to feel.

What Makes This Different

Psychology, data, and genuine care.

Bold strategies. Honest thinking. Real results. I bring together human understanding and technical clarity to help businesses grow in a way that feels both ambitious and sound.

Psychologically Grounded

I hold a degree in Psychology from Warwick University. I understand what makes people trust, choose, and stay, and I build that understanding into every strategy.

Commercially Sharp

I love a success story. Clean data, properly configured platforms, sensible reporting, and the ability to see where the gaps are. Instinct matters, but it cannot stand alone.

Sleeves Rolled Up

Strategic but practical. I am not interested in vanity marketing or noise for the sake of it. I want to know what is working, what is not, and what will actually move things forward.

Whole-Picture Thinking

A beautiful website will not work if the message is vague. Paid ads will not perform if the landing page does not convert. I look at the whole picture and help the pieces connect.

Language That Lands

As a No.1 bestselling author, I understand what writing has always confirmed: language changes how people feel. The right words do not manipulate. They reveal.

Trusted by Agencies

I white-label for a small number of genuinely wonderful agencies, supporting them with strategy, website builds, paid media management, conversion rate optimisation, PR activity and senior marketing thinking.

A Little Useful Proof

Experience, and with
sleeves rolled up.

The point of credentials is not to list a CV. It is to say that I know what it feels like inside a growing business: the pressure, the moving parts, the moments of doubt, and the strange little gap that can open between what a business is capable of and how clearly the world can see it.

That gap is where I often do my best work.

How I Work

The work has to connect.

Businesses rarely grow through one isolated piece of activity. I look at the whole picture and help the right things work together.

01 Human insight first
You have to understand people to build a good business. Not as data points or avatars with neatly labelled pain points, but as actual people, with hopes, hesitations, pressures, loyalties, fears, habits, private doubts and very full inboxes. That applies to customers, but it also applies to founders. The emotional and the commercial are not as separate as people like to pretend. In practice, this means the first thing we do together is not write a strategy. It is understand your customers, your market, and your business properly.
02 Technical clarity alongside
Understanding people is only half the work. You also have to understand the systems: the platforms, the tracking, the website, the ads accounts, the analytics, the search behaviour, the user journey, the conversion points. I like knowing what the data says, how the platforms are behaving, where the tracking is working, and how the whole digital journey connects. In practice, this means you will always know what is working, what is not, and why.
03 Honest, direct thinking
I like clarity. I like evidence. I like good research, clean thinking and honest conversations. I am not interested in vanity marketing, noise for the sake of it, or making things look impressive while leaving the real problem untouched. I want to know what is working, what is not, where the opportunity is, and what the business is trying to become. In practice, this means I will sometimes tell you things you did not expect to hear. That is part of the value.
04 Connected, not fragmented
A beautiful website will not work if the message is vague. Paid ads will not perform if the landing page does not convert. PR is less powerful if there is no clear authority behind it. A clever campaign will fall flat if nobody has really understood the customer. The work has to connect. That is where I am most useful. In practice, this means I look across your whole marketing picture before recommending anything.
05 Growth that feels right
I love seeing people win. I love championing founders, helping them see what is possible, and giving them the language, strategy and confidence to move towards it. There is a better way to grow: one that is intelligent, human, commercially focused and built on trust. That is the kind of growth I believe in: thoughtful, commercially strong, human-led and built properly.

Letters to the Woman I Was

Alongside my marketing work, I am the No.1 Amazon bestselling author of Letters to the Woman I Was and have built an online writing community of thousands.

That part of my life is not separate from my work. It deepens it. Writing has taught me what marketing has always confirmed: language changes how people feel. The right words do not manipulate. They reveal.

They help people recognise themselves, understand what is being offered, and decide whether it is for them. That is true in a poem. It is true on a website. It is true in a campaign. It is true in a boardroom.

Who I Work With

Thoughtful, ambitious people
who care about what they are building.

I work best with people who are good at what they do, but need help communicating it more clearly, or growing it more strategically.

Founders and Business Owners

Founders who know they are good at what they do, but need help communicating it more clearly. Who have reached the point where they need a more strategic partner beside them.

Agencies Needing Senior Support

Agencies who need experienced, discreet support behind the scenes: strategy, website builds, paid media management, conversion rate optimisation, PR activity and senior marketing thinking.

Growth Teams and Heads of Marketing

Growth teams who have activity happening, but need stronger strategic direction. Heads of Marketing who want a partner who can see the wider picture and help turn insight into action.

Service-Led Businesses

Service-led businesses that want to grow without losing their values, voice or integrity. Who want marketing that feels intelligent, human, and built on trust rather than noise.

What Changes

The kind of work
that moves things forward.

Every engagement is different. These are the kinds of shifts that tend to happen when the strategy, the message and the execution finally connect.

Technology / SaaS
From unclear positioning to a qualified waitlist in one quarter.

A founder-led technology business had strong product and weak messaging. After a full positioning and website overhaul, inbound enquiry quality improved significantly and the sales conversation became much shorter.

Professional Services
Messaging rebuilt from the ground up. Best version of the brand they had ever had.

A professional services firm had grown through referral but struggled to communicate their value to new audiences. A complete messaging and website rebuild gave them a platform they were genuinely proud to share.

Agency / White-Label
Senior strategic support behind the scenes. Retainer revenue increased within six months.

An agency needed experienced senior support they could trust with their best clients. Discreet, reliable and commercially focused, the partnership allowed them to take on work they previously could not resource confidently.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions I hear most often from founders and business owners considering working together.

What does a psychology-informed marketing strategist actually do? +
A psychology-informed marketing strategist combines an understanding of human behaviour, motivation and decision-making with commercial marketing expertise. Rather than treating customers as data points, this approach builds marketing around how people actually think, feel and choose, resulting in clearer messaging, stronger trust, and more effective campaigns. For Mimi G, this means combining a degree in Psychology from Warwick University with 20+ years of hands-on marketing experience to help businesses grow with more clarity and confidence.
What is a fractional CMO and how is it different from a marketing consultant? +
A fractional CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) provides ongoing, embedded senior marketing leadership, typically on a part-time or retainer basis, rather than a one-off project. Unlike a marketing consultant who advises on specific problems, a fractional CMO takes strategic ownership of the marketing function, provides consistent direction, and works as a genuine part of the leadership team. This gives businesses access to senior marketing expertise without the cost of a full-time hire.
What types of businesses does Mimi G work with? +
Mimi G works with founders, agencies, growth teams, Heads of Marketing and CROs across a wide range of sectors, including technology, SaaS, professional services, wellbeing, fitness, education, retail and founder-led businesses. She works best with thoughtful, ambitious people who care about what they are building and want to grow with clarity, integrity and proper commercial thinking behind them.
Does Mimi G work with businesses outside the UK? +
Yes. Mimi G is based in the UK but works with clients globally. All consultancy, strategy and fractional CMO work can be delivered remotely, and she has experience supporting businesses across Europe, North America and beyond. Location is not a barrier to working together.
How do I know if working with Mimi G is the right fit? +
The best starting point is a clarity call: a focused conversation about where your business is, what is holding things back, and whether working together makes sense. There is no obligation and no pressure. If the fit is right, you will know. If it is not, Mimi will tell you honestly. You do not need to have everything neatly worked out before you get in touch. That is rather the point.
Ready to Begin?

Your marketing should feel
like growth, not noise.

If you are here because your marketing feels unclear, your website no longer reflects the quality of your work, or your business has reached the point where you need a more strategic partner beside you, I would love to hear from you.

I work with a small number of clients at any one time and I am selective about fit. If you are serious about growth and ready to invest properly in senior marketing guidance, the clarity call is the right starting point.

What is a clarity call? A 30-minute conversation. No slides, no pitch. An honest look at where your business is, what is holding things back, and whether working together makes sense. There is no obligation. If the fit is right, you will know. If it is not, I will tell you honestly.

I will bring the strategy, the questions, the research and the honest thinking. You bring the business you care about.
